    Barley wine dry out

    When I make a barleywine, I start with London ale yeast and it knocks it down from 1.110 to ~1.040-1.050. I then make a huge starter of Super High Gravity yeast and pitch it. I usually end up between 1.000 and 1.010. The FG may sound low, but the beer is still very malty. The high amount of...

    Barley Wine Mash Mess-up?

    Don't worry about it. Ive started a couple mashes high and never had a problem.

    Super High Gravity RIS

    I've used the 099 to finish off barleywines in the past and it has done a great job. You just need to get it going in a decent sized starter. I even had the 099 get a 1.117 beer down to 1.010; very nice indeed.

    HopBack Mountain
