    Blonde Ale California Blonde

Looking for something different and lighter. Think I'll give this a try this weekend. Doing 11 gallon batch, I'm going with 14 lbs 2 Row, 4 lbs Vienna and 1 Lb Honey malt. I'm also going to up the hops a bit. Will use a full ounce of NB, Amarillo and a full ounce of Centennial. Sounds...

American Brown Ale Barbarian's End – A Nomadic Brown Ale

Sounds good, let us know how it turns out. I agree that the new standard is a bit low for my liking. I just checked my fermenter with the washed WLP 002 and it's still around 1.018. I'm going to swirl it a bit and give it another week. I tasted it, as I do all my samples, and wow, this one...

American Brown Ale Barbarian's End – A Nomadic Brown Ale

As Forrest Gump once said, "I'm not a smart man". lol I doubled everything but the hops. DOH! I recently made the Bass Ale clone and for 11 gallons it called for 3 oz of hops, guess that was stuck in my mind. I'm not a real hop head, so suspect this will be just fine. Anywho, due to some...

American Brown Ale Barbarian's End – A Nomadic Brown Ale

Looks interesting. How did this turn out? I am looking for something different to brew as I have 2 starters going from washed WLP 002 & 005. Think I'll give this a go tomorrow. Thanks for the recipe.

    Camp Stove from Gander Mountain

Resurrecting an old thread..... Any updates from anyone using this burner? I just made a 10 gallon batch and my turkey fryer could hardly keep 12.5 gallons boiling. I have a friend who has this same 2 burner and loves it. He doesn't brew, but uses a 20 gallon pot for crawfish boils and...

    Milk stout and lactose intolerance

Digging up an old thread..... but I am also mildly lactose intolerant. I was given a bottle of Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout a few months ago and had no affects from it. A friend asked me to make a clone, so I did. Well, 2 days ago I pulled the first pint from my keg. Woke up in the middle of...

    Whirlfloc and carrageenan risk

I just came across the same article. I don't use any clearing agents in my brew. My wife bieng an organic nut, I opt to "try" not to add anything extra. I started reading about Irish moss, and found that article. I also looked up whirfloc, to find that it contains the same irish...

    How did I fix it?

Thanks. These strips are pretty bad. I think the color code goes from 4 to 6 etc. So it looks like it is a bit below 6. My wife is an organic nut, and while she doesn't drink, I try not to add anything I don't have to. Tis the reason I won't use the Camden tablets, whirfloc or irish moss...

    How did I fix it?

I'm, eh, perplexed? This will probably be a long post, but please bear with me. I started all grain the end of last year or the beginning of this year. I've brewed quite a few batches of all grain. I've read and read until I was so confused, I just went ahead and started brewing, figuring...

    "Cereal Killer" grain mill

Just got mine on Friday. My local brew shop uses the CK to grush their grains. It's a new brew shop, just celebrated their 1 yr anniversary. He told me that he's run thousands of lbs thru it and he loves it. Seems to crush good and fast. I've not seen them clean it or check the setting...

Grain Mill... Cereal Killer or Barley Crusher MaltMill?

My LHBS is fairly new (7 months) and he told me the other day that he uses the Cereal Killer and has since he opened. He stated he's had zero problems and has run thousands of lbs thru it. I got a corona a few months ago, but am stuck at ~74% efficiency. Not sure if it's the grind or not, but...

CO2 refill or fill near Columbus, Ohio

Just to add, I ended up getting my 20# tank filled at DeLille, in south east columbus. A few miles south of I70. It was a bit over $23 to fill a 20# tank. Not a swap, they are an actual gas company. Did aight by me.

    Cream Ale Fizzy Yellow Beer

My LHBS doesn't carry UK 2 row, he says that is just Maris Otter and I don't know the difference, we'll see. Also, he only sells 1lb bags of Vienna, so I'm brewing tomorrow with: 5lbs Maris Otter 5lbs Vienna. Went with Nottingham, as I have not used this yeast yet, plus with the...

    Blonde Ale Amarillo Blonde

Still being a NOOB, bear with me. I just checked the FG and it is at 1.005. Whoah. This is with both Hydrometer and Refractometer. With OG of 1.044, that puts me at over 5% ABV. Usually US-05 cleans up well, but I stil have thick krausen. I'm going to cold crash this for a few days and see...
