    Has anyone ever used Spalt to dry hop? I have a lot of Spalt (leaf, not pellets) and I have just kegged a pale ale that doesn't have quite enough aroma. Would it be a good idea to put in about 1 oz of spalt in the keg?

    Does trub affect hydrometer reading?

    I do the same thing that wobdee does. After a while, when the trub settles there is usually a difference in reading of about 0.002 points. So, yes, it does make a difference.

    Does anyone use FermCap to prevent too much foaming while doing a starter? If so, when do you add it? When boiling the starter wort or afterwards? I had to add some after it had started and I am worried about contamination. Should I be worried about this? Other FermCap questions...

    Worm Leaked

    I'm convinced that that is how my last infected batch got that way. I had a small leak in the same spot that you mentioned and water from the hose got in the wort. I did not realize that until later and what I should have done was bring it to a boil again for at least 10 min to sanitize...
