    Midwest Supplies

When I placed a big order, they got it out right away, as I mentioned before in this thread. However when I ordered another airlock and a packet of yeast, it took two weeks for them to even ship it out of their warehouse. When I emailed them about what might be going on, they didn't respond. So...

    Midwest Supplies

I ordered my first kit from Midwest Supplies last Thursday. I just started a 6 gallon batch of cider with that very kit today. 3 business days is all it took, and I certainly won't complain about that!! Everything is exactly what I ordered. I ordered additional items like yeast, stabilizer...

    3rd batch, lalvin EC 1118

Thanks a lot. 73 is about where my apartment stays, even with A/C running cool, so that is good to hear. I'll give the EC-1118 a go on the second batch.

    3rd batch, lalvin EC 1118

Do you think EC-1118 would do okay in the 70 - 75 degree range? I ordered some us-05 believing it to be more suited to my temps, but I have heard many good things about EC-1118. Just worried that my room temp isn't cool enough. From what I understand, my higher temps could cause more fusel...

    Ordered an equipment kit!

Hi all, My name is Lee and I joined Homebrewtalk.com a week or so ago, and love it. Did a few 1 gallon batches of cider and mead which turned out horrible (I used baking yeast, and no secondary or aging). But I know with the right equipment and better ingredients, I should be able to make some...

Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

Thanks for sharing, Paps. I have wine equipment kit on the way soon, and want to start with a simple cider that doesn't take too long to finish. This looks like a good option.

A few Qs about beginning Cider.

Thanks, Thadius, and thanks to all of you. I really did not expect so many people to give me feedback on this. Awesome forum, and I think I am here to stay. I want to make more mead and cider already, and I haven't even finished a batch yet!

A few Qs about beginning Cider.

There is some funk building up inside the containers at the top, but I am sure that is just from the yeast. Nothing that looks moldy to me. Can mold grow on that stuff if I leave it there?

A few Qs about beginning Cider.

Thank you to all of you. You guys have provided great advice. I will definitely plan on using EC-1118 yeast since a couple of you recommended it specifically. And will try US-05. I'm sure I'll find out which I prefer. I know yeast is fairly cheap, I just didn't want to wait to get started. I...

A few Qs about beginning Cider.

Thanks guys! I know, bread yeast isn't the best. I just wanted to get some fermentation going right away to try. I will be ordering a starter equipment kit and some suitable yeast soon. Been wanting to do this for years. Was always afraid I would do it wrong, but my batches (each jug is a...

A few Qs about beginning Cider.

Thanks Jimmy. That's the kind of answer I was hoping for. Lol. I have a lot to learn and hopefully in a few weeks I can start making 5 gallon batches. Can't wait!

A few Qs about beginning Cider.

Hi, I am trying to break into the wonderful world of homebrewing and winemaking. I decided to try a few small batches of cider (or maybe it'll be more like apple wine?) in purified water jugs before spending money on good equipment. I used frozen apple juice concentrate from Walmart (only...
