Well, we checked at 29 days, fermentation was complete, and we were able to bottle almost 2 cases. FG is a little lower than indicated by the kit (1.008) but it tastes pretty good.
Now to wait a few weeks for the finished product!
I didn't pay attention to the particular yeast, it was whatever came included in the Brewers' Best kit. In retrospect I wish I had paid more attention, as it isn't specified on the kit instructions.
FG is indicated in the kit to be between 1.010 and 1.014; the last reading came in at 1.009.
There's no visible activity in the air lock, which is why we figured it was reasonable to try and bottle, but on opening we had a small amount of foam and visible sporadic small bubbling in the wort...
Brand-new to home brewing, and just started up with a Brewer's Best basic kit. First batch we are attempting is the BB Scottish Ale.
We started the batch on 4-6-13. Initially we had the wort in the basement, but with the crazy weather in the Midwest, I think the initial temperature was too low...
