Sweet idea, my uncle used a treadmill motor (there will be lots of those for sale soon). The motor is DC and "dashboard" has variable speeds built in. I think is paid $10 for it at a yard sale.

I used a Jack Llanne power juicer, it is very effective at separating the juice from the rest of the fruit. Not determined scientifically, but it does seem to add oxygen by beating into the juice into froth that you have to let settle. You can pick these up for about $70, much cheaper used...

I fermented 11 gallons of Hood pear juice in two batches, first ran for 12 days, the second for 15. Both were steady and tapered off but still active to the end. Grew my own in GA, my single tree had limbs breaking, best yield ever, good year here for hard fruit.

I've noticed air getting in my flex tube, the place where the flex hits the hard line isn't tight enough and sucks tiny air bubbles in. A hose clamp fixed it.
