Custom Spike TC eBIAB Build- stovetop plus 120v element

I would say while TC are certainly not required, they seem to make my life much easier. Easier to clean, quicker on and off. Order from spike today for 25% off!! I would not cheap out on the controller. Inkbird has been hit or miss in my experience and the EZBoil is simply great to work with.

Custom Spike TC eBIAB Build- stovetop plus 120v element

Apologies if this is a bit brief/ direct: I would never buy the Unibrau system. I have one of their controllers, and the build quality is low. Their kettles look cheap to me, and that pump appears to be a $30ish dollar knock off from eBay. Dozens of brews in, I love my system and if I was...

Need a little help converting brewpi set-up from switch relays to SSR

So is having switch relays crap out this frequently normal? It sounds like the use of an SSR is not as common as I thought. I could have sworn I saw several SSR BrewPi around here. But I certainly don’t know enough to develop anything new.

Need a little help converting brewpi set-up from switch relays to SSR

Hey all, I have been using the basic brewpi set-up commonly posted around here (ubiquitous schematic below). Overall, works fantastically well. I have no trouble holding fermentation temps within 0.1 or at worst 0.2F. However, every few months one of the relays will stop working (sticks on or...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

While I’m sure there may be a couple components more compatible with one brands unitank than the other, almost all components are 1.5” TC. So I’d imagine most things worth swapping out would work with either unitank. But there’s always something to be said for matched sets.

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

Agreed. I was seriously considering either the @SpikeBrewing CF5 or the @Ss_Michael 7g Unitank for 5g batch brewing. I have had a Ss 7g Chronical for years now and was looking to upgrade and ditch the weldless fittings. Overall the two unitank conical share many features but both clearly have...

    Help w/ eBIAB Kettle Design

Very cool, thank you. I am happy with how things turned out with my build but thats a cool option to remember for the future. I like the quick fitting change option.

    Help w/ eBIAB Kettle Design

Did Spike make this lid for you? I had asked before and they did not offer welding to the lid due to warping concerns.

    Help w/ eBIAB Kettle Design

I got it over at Norcal, its a single welded piece. I just use my brew bag with the whirlpool arm during the mash for recirc, remove the arm quick and easy after mashing. Then bag comes out, whirlpool arm goes back in for use later. I like the bags for cost and ease of use, but if you were going...

    Help w/ eBIAB Kettle Design

Here is my 10g kettle for eBIAB. I recirculate into the bag through a whirlpool arm with the element running. Holds temps dead on and could not be happier. I would caution that the temp probe in the recirculation line may not accurately represent the temp of the grain, but you likely could...
