Illinois Interest in Central Illinois Brew Club?

Thanks for finding Homebrewers of Peoria. I missed it.

Illinois Interest in Central Illinois Brew Club?

Good morning Illinois brewers, I grew up just north of Peoria and spent the next 12 years in college and stationed across the country while in the Air Force. I got bit by the homebrew bug during my first assignment in Dayton, OH. I had a few friends who brewed and a great local homebrew...

    "Brew" Year's Resolutions?

My goal is is 9 batches this year. I'm moving across the country sometime late March or early April. So I won't be brewing Feb, Mar, or April. My goal is to get settled enough to be brewing in May.

    1 gallon pros/cons?

I started doing 1 gal all-grain batches in the kitchen. I mashed in a crockpot, heated sparge water on the stove, and boiled on the stove. After a few batches I started doing 2 gal batches using the same process. Both of these processes used 1 gal glass jugs. It got to be a little messy with...

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

I think I prefer bigger ears of corn bracketing the glass, like the first one you did. The style on the second one is what I was wanted, just didn't know how to say it. More ideas of styles I like if it helps...

    Fishing!

I really enjoy fishing. I grew up in central Illinois fishing at a ski lake for most of the summer. Now I'm in the Air Force stationed in Dayton, OH and haven't been fishing as often as I want. I got orders to Los Angeles AFB last week and will be moving in the spring. I guess I'll have to...

    Advice on Los Angeles

So I'm used to seeing 4-6 test on 6' medium action rods when fishing for bluegill, crappie, and small catfish. I have one of those rods too, it's the $20 Zebco standard. Would that be better? I fished too many brushy areas this year and will need new line for next year though. I assume I...

    Advice on Los Angeles

I have a 6'6" Medium Heavy freshwater rod (still breaks into 2 pieces) and a spincast reel, both by Shakespeare. Is this set-up useful for surf perch? Are they really as prevalent as the internet leads you to believe? I've seen videos where they basically cast between the wave that just broke...

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

I think I'm leaning towards color, but you're a lot better at this than I am. Like I said earlier, I'm not a pro, and just want something to help me remember what I made and impress my friends. I trust your judgement. When it's not fun for you anymore, that's when it's good enough for me.

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

I like how it's coming along. I like that the glass and corn actually has color, and the shield is really cool. I think I would like it better if it had a less distressed look. Something along these lines. Sorry they're videos. I couldn't find pictures that didn't link to videos...

    Advice on Los Angeles

Thanks for the advice everyone. Do any of you fish? I've never fished saltwater and am always interested in learning a new skill. I'm sure some of the freshwater techniques transfer, but what changes?

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

    A) The Hopcorn label is awesome! I don't often brew IPAs, but I'm going to have to now. I can't let something that awesome go to waste. B) I'm not exactly sure what "style" this is but I like the style in the folowing links...

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

I'm not sure how backed up this thread is, but attached is a logo that I made. I tried the "trace bitmap" function in inkscape, but I need to better understand inkscape before I go messing around too much more. I think I'm going to make 3x5 notecards for my brews with a label-like artwork on...
