    Anyone know what this is?

I figured it out. Its a cane topper. Which means that a lot of canes have the same size threads. I bet if one was to look around and cane heads there would be a myriad of objects that could be used a cool tap handles.

    New to meading

    Cheap compact wort pump

I've picked up both pumps. I just also ordered camlocks that I need. I guess I'll do a comparison of the two when the black pump comes in. I also just picked up this http://bit.ly/X6ILwB which is a power supply.

I guess I'm off to the store to get another jug of wine. Yeah I just picked up another demijohn. I split it up now I'm ready for a back sweeten technique.

    Another first time mead maker.

I'll keep that in mind about not leaving on the lees. I had though about using ec-1118 to finish it up if it won't go over 14% or distillers yeast.

Does a longer stir bar get thrown less?

I had a real problem with using a hard drive magnet. Is that what you're using? It has a curve and the magnetic field is a little tricky. The magnetic field is not exactly centered its off a little bit to the inside of the curve. This of course put my magnet just a little off center of the fan...
