I have, and love, an Anvil brew bucket. Only thing is, I really wish I had a sampling port. Has anybody added ports to their stainless fermenters? Curious how they went about it.
I have a 13/16” and 1/2” GreenLee punch but wasn’t sure what kind of fittings I should use to keep everything clean...
Resurrecting a very old thread. Looking to make some hard cider and I know adding yeast nutrient is recommended. According to BeerSmith Blog, adding 1tsp of DAP is recommended. I know that Fermax has DAP in it along with other nutrients. So wondering if 1tsp is still the correct amount for...
Ok in case anybody is a little confused about what parts do what and where to find them, I put together a nice little summary on my website. http://www.echrisdenney.com/2019/03/01/ispindel-project-post-2/
But now I see the "most-in-one" board that shoo found on Amazon and now I'm rethinking...
Ouch. That's a real bummer. Whenever we solder things that a human will touch we always recommend that the component be of a "thru-hole" variety. We like to say "Imagine a gorilla plugging and unplugging a cable from that." when we speak with designers. Definitely a good idea to add some epoxy...
Oh, haha, yeah lost in translation I suppose. By "hack" I really mean "Modify/change/customize" to your own needs/desires.
I've gone through the first 6 pages so far. Lots of super smart folks working on this project. Basically, my goals are to make building these super simple. Find a tube that...
Hey guys. Great thread. I'm going to take some time to read over this stuff over the next few days. I'm an electronic engineer working at an electronics factory in South Deerfield, MA. I love the idea of this project and excited to contribute to it. Ultimately my goal is to get some nice clean...
Just to be clear, I dry hopped for 7 days but it was still fermenting even after 7 days so I moved it to a secondary carboy because I didn't want any funky vegetal flavors. Then it sat there in the clean carboy for another 5 days.
She's in a keg now and carbbing up. Can't wait!!
I've got a NE DIPA I've been fermenting for 2 weeks now. It reached my target finish gravity of 1.014 a couple days ago but I can still see a lot of tiny bubbles floating to the top in my carboy.
My question is, should I let this bad boy finish until all the activity has stopped, or since I...
Ok, I figured out what I did. I need a serious slap in the face. Or just less homebrew while making homebrew.
The final gravity turned out to not be too bad. It was 1.024 which, I know, is high, but when you hear what I did you'll understand why I was actually ok with that.
I poured this...
Good call. I must have screwed up my measurement somehow. It did taste super sweet but then again I've never brewed a stout before so I'm not sure how sweet they're supposed to taste.
I'll let ya'll know how it turns out.
Thanks so much for the replies guys. Sorry, I'll post the recipe tomorrow but I know one thing I did wrong. The recipe called for 1/2 pound of dextrin but I didn't realize the kit came with a full pound of dextrin and I put the whole thing in there.
The DME wasn't labeled, the kit came from a...
So I screwed up my wort and got a gravity of 1.107 on an Irish Stout recipe. Was shooting for 1.059 and must have put way too much DME in it.
Only had one package of White Labs Irish stout yeast and pitched it anyway. 3 days later I still have no airlock activity. So I'm wondering about my...
