    Pilsen Malt -- Prostejov/Sladovny Czech

Sorry for reviving this forum post, but I now have a spec sheet for it.

Looking for spec sheet for Sladovny Soufflet Czech Pilsen from Country Malt group

Hello. I recently got a sack of this Czech pilsen at my local home brew shop. They didn't have any info on it. I tried to track it down online, but didn't have much luck. Finally (today) I cam across one website with some info. It should be enough to add to Beersmith. But, I'd love it if...

Modifying plastic lid to accommodate a breathable silicone stopper

Hello. I'm looking to get away from the glass carboys I have, and move over to fermenting in a 7 gal plastic bucket (Like Clawhammer supply does). I see lots of mod videos/instructions online for adding a grommet to the lid for a bubbler airlock. I don't have any of those anymore. I made the...

    BIABasket with hop spiders

Hey Guys. Ok, crazy idea here. Someone tell me if I'm out of my mind. I'm thinking of brewing a 5 gallon all-grain batch in a 10 gallon aluminum pot, with 3 hop spiders. Reason: I'm currently using a mesh bag, and want to go to a mesh basket. The mesh BIABasket options here in Canada don't...

Kettle Size - Aluminum - 8.75 gal vs 17 gal

@NTBeer - yes, BIAB. And my problem is solved - I finally went out to the local wholesale store and found a sweet 10gal aluminum pot (4mm). It was $67 (no lid included). Ended up buying a stainless steel lid for it because all of the aluminum ones were scratched to high heaven. The steel lid...

Kettle Size - Aluminum - 8.75 gal vs 17 gal

First, let me apologize for ANOTHER  post on kettles. I just need someone to talk me off the cliff, or give me a good push. Ok, back into homebrew. All grain. Propane burner on the deck. Been doing small 2.5 gallon batches of BIAB in my steel kitchen stockpot (3.5 gallon), and...

    Brew in a basket (hooks)

@dtashmore547 - Wow! That is some dedication to the craft. Good job! I'm impressed. @ebbelwoi - oh cool - I'll check out the dollar store nearby. Good tip. Thanks.

    Brew in a basket (hooks)

@wilserbrewer - yeah, that'd be perfect if I was in my basement. I'm brewing on my deck, with nothing overhead except the sky. 😕

    Brew in a basket (hooks)

@Punx Clever - where did you get yours? Could you upload a photo? Just curious what it looks like. I'm also considering just putting down a wire rack across the top of the kettle. It would support the basket and still drain easily. Probably the cheapest option. And I like cheap options 👍

    Brew in a basket (hooks)

I'm looking to get into BIABasket vs the bag. We seem to be a little more limited up here in Canada in terms of supply. The only basket I see popping up on search results is this Basket from OntarioBeerKegs, but it doesn't come with any way to support it in when draining the wort after the...

    Immersion chiller question

@jimyoung - Turning it down was good advice. This was the first time out with the new stove and I was cooking like a mo-fo:rock:! Did another batch today and kept the flames under control. Worked much better. And worst case scenario, I can just drape the ends of the hoses over a nearby deck...

    Immersion chiller question

@AJinJacksonville - yes, I've seen some that have the long vertical copper lines. That would be much better than the short stubby chillers. @davidabcd - I like the idea of just StarSan-ing the chiller before dropping it in. That would be ideal. But I'll always have that nagging doubt in my...
