    yeasty "homebrew" taste

Thanks for the replies. It was brewed December 7th. I ferment in the basement (Michigan) and it's been a pretty constant 68 degrees. I initially kegged it and used a beer gun about a week ago to bottle. I'll let them age a while. It sat in the primary for about 14 days (SG was steady for...

    yeasty "homebrew" taste

I've brewed about 15 AG 5 gallon batches. All have been resonably good and "clean" tasting. I've also done about 10 5 gallon BIAB batches with equally good success. My last brew was a Holiday spiced Ale. It was a bit heavy (1.074 SG) so I pitched with 2 packets of Safeale 05. The resulting...

    Michigan Kettle/HLT/Tun

There was interest, but no money changed hands so it's still for sale. The mash tun was purchased from: http://www.highlanderbrewingsupply.com/servlet/the-55/TEN-GALLON-COOLER-MASH/Detail Nice unit, but I'm moving. I purchased a few months ago. Like new, except I drilled a 1/2" hole in the cover...

    Michigan Kettle/HLT/Tun

I'm selling my house and moving to a smaller condo. I'm building a smaller electric BIAB rig similar to what High Gravity Brewing has.

    Cooler Mash Tun heat control

The two burner stand was about $70 from Amazon. I added the valve and site tube to a stainless pot create the HLT. The boil pot has the valve and a strainer. The Mash Tun utilizes a false bottom and I've never had a stuck mash. I use the March pumps to recirculate when the bucket heater comes on...

    Cooler Mash Tun heat control

I've started using a bucket heater in my cooler based mash tun to control my mash temps while garage brewing here in Michigan. I made the small control box for my March pumps and a PID controller. I run the PID controller in "on-off" mode and the setup works well. I typically re-circ my mash...

    Mash Temperature

I'm brewing in Michigan in my (semi) heated garage. I'm consistently a bit low on my mash temoerature (145 deg when I'm after 152), and I'm loosing a few degrees during the mash. Being I'm mashing in a modified cooler, I don't have temperature control (yet) other than adding hotter water...

    Sanitizing pumps/new brew stand

Sorry for the lousy pictures, but here is the equipment I use. It utilizes the March pumps and quick disconnect hoses. Can I clean and sanitize the pumps and fittings by recirculating cleaner and sanitizer solution through the pumps, lines, and fittings? Or should I dis-assemble the pump each...
