Using a propane grill to boil?

Does anyone do this? I just got a Brinkman 5-burner gas grill with the burners equaling 50,000 BTUs and one side burner at 13,500 BTUs. Would this setup work?

Basement temps swing from 67-62. Is this a problem? Using US-05

With the water method should I assume the wort temp will be near the temp of the water surrounding it? Or is there a general rule to assume its a few degrees higher?

Basement temps swing from 67-62. Is this a problem? Using US-05

I live in an old farm house with a well. Water is not a concern. I think im just gonna fill up a cooler with water and use ice packs. It seems like the best idea and it will work well. Plus I'm doing a 3-gallon batch so the swamp cooler with water seems to be the best route.

Basement temps swing from 67-62. Is this a problem? Using US-05

So use the ice to drive down the temp inside the bigger cooler so that the wort temp stays in the range? Due to it being 5-10 degrees warmer because of the fermentation?

Basement temps swing from 67-62. Is this a problem? Using US-05

I'm about to brew an ale and I was wonder if temp swings like that could be dangerous. And if so what could I do to cut down on the swing?

How do you speed up your boil?

We have a garage that I can brew in that won't give me frostbite and will keep me out of the sun. So I am good. Now I just need to hone in what kinda of burner I want. BUT my problem is that I want to stay away from brew kits and buy ingredients for 1-2 gallon brews. If this is the case I...

    Fermenter to cold? Lazy yeast?

My yeast says it works between 72-64. But I learned my basement in the area I keep my bucket gets down to 58-62 at night. I say bubbling in the first day of pitching but it has since stopped. Can I revive the yeast by moving it to a slightly warmer spot or am I screwed?

How do you speed up your boil?

I currently have 30 minutes left in my boil and I can tell you from steeping my specialty grains, to adding the LME, to bring that (and 3 gallons) to a boil, I am frustrated kinda. I started my water on the glass top stove at 5:05 pm and it is 8:20 pm now and its hardly a roiling boil on its max...

    Hello From Ohio!

I actually didn't end up brewing yesterday sadly. My girlfriend came over and she woke up feeling very sick. Well I caught it too by brew time. I want to go in to my first brew feeling well.
