    Caramel Apple Cider

    just took a quick reading to see where I was at after 2 days and its already at 4% with very steady activity...of course I needed to taste-test the sample...and then again when the wife came home (for no other reason than it was really good)...think this is going to be a winner! Thanks again...

    Where to find non-pastuerized juice?

    Just went with the Motts and put the airlock on a 3 Gal test batch last night. Checked this morning and things are progressing very nicely. I was just getting hung up on the whole pastuerized juice thing and appreciate everyones help here.

    Caramel Apple Cider

    Just started a batch of this (3 Gal.) and used a Windsor yeast. Its a beer yeast and after 30 min it is off and running. Carmalized 4 cups of Sugar in the Raw with 2 cups of brown sugar. Should be interesting to see how this progresses. Thanks for posting the recipe... Don

    Well, as the name implies where are you finding your base? I've checked the local grocery stores, Walmart,etc and am only finding juices that are pastuerized. Certainly adding to my carbon footprint (if you believe in that kind of stuff) driving all over town in what is turning into a quest...

    Here is a pic of my Orange Melomel...wish I would have known about blow-offs earlier as I had 4 days of excitment. 3 gal test and should have made more as this is yummy...and it was just bottled last week.     cherries in the secondary

    I'm doing a blueberry "mead" melomel and read somewhere that soaking the berries in vodka will work to help sterilize so I thought I'd give it a shot. So far it is working...and I "made" blueberry vodka...a win-win
