This Blichmann QuickCarb system was used about 5 times and it worked well. After each use it was cleaned with PBW, then rinsed thoroughly, so it’s in great condition. Manual and carbonation/temp chart included. Will ship within continental USA, or pickup in central Indiana. Asking for $100...
I wasted a couple of pounds of grain to experiment and found all the grains at least cracked at 0.050”. Not much malt flour. The husks looked in excellent condition at that setting for what would be a nice lauter.
At 0.040” there was a moderate amount of malt flour.
I milled about a pounds worth. It looked very good at 0.040” crush. I might even go a little wider on the crush. It seemed to crush more than my original mill at the same gap setting. My old mill is a 3 roll knurled design and measured using feeler gauges. I was crushing twice before (one...
I received the mill this morning. The packing is excellent and well secured. I also bought the bucket lid adapter. The screws do not match up exactly to the locating holes on the bottom of the mill. It will be an easy fix for their second run of lids but I’m guessing all the lids in the...
I just received an estimated delivery date for Run 1 on the Spike mill. April 25-May17!!
Really looking forward to this upgrade for ease of use changing mill gap settings (malted oats vs barley).

This is a good resource for how to manage spectrum.

I used it with a hazy ipa and the convenience is great, but it did have drawbacks in my view. It definitely darkened the beer more than just adding pellet hops, which probably doesn’t matter much...
Tapcooler connected directly to the tap is incredibly simple. The gas relief tube is nice to have for reducing any foam mess, but not necessary. Having it not connected to the draft tap is not nearly as convenient.
New member here. I’ve been brewing for a couple of years and used this site for the wealth of knowledge I could glean from it. I finally had something to say to help someone else… or hopefully help.
For an inexpensive glycol chiller (~$600 for the unit) that works great and requires no effort…. get a BrewBuilt Ice Master Max 2. Perfect if you need to chill 1 or 2 fermenters.
