Organize brewery / garage - ClosetMaid or other

My wife and I recently bought our first house! I'm so excited to have garage space to store/brew in. First step: organize and store equipment. Has anyone used the ClosetMaid Track system or similar? The double-track shelf brackets claim to hold a couple hundred pounds. Curious if anyone has...

Fellowship of The Homebrew VII: Kegs of Fury

Would it be possible to see more pics of the beers packaged in the box so we can view how so many beers are loaded into one box?

Fellowship of The Homebrew VII: Kegs of Fury

Sorry for the late reply, I should have done this sooner. I can't supply for the exchange. I really wish I could have this was such a great idea. Is this only done once a year?

Another is my liquid yeast pack healthy thread

I used a yeast with 30% viability once. Just like you, it didn't show much activity on the first go. It took me doing a 3 step starter to get it to adequate pitching levels. To make sure your yeast is viable, why don't you cold crash your starter and do a gravity reading on your starter wort?

    Shank length?

I went with 4" stainless (intertap) so it would go through and I could retrofit with insulation after I finished putting in the shanks. My collar is 2x8 + 1x10 so a total thickness of 2.25 + thickness of the insulation. 4" seemed like a good idea at the time. IllI get back to you on the results.

I need a good (but not too good) whiskey for my Imperial Stout

It's been suggested by Drew Beechum that the whiskey / burbon you use to soak the oak, does not matter. You can't really tasty the difference between rebbel yell, knob Creek, yellow rose, or TX whiskey. So you should probably go with the cheapest whiskey you can get.

Is it necessary to transfer wine to secondary?

Thank you very much for that informative post. I wish I had a glycol chilled conical. But alas, I use a PET carboy and fermonster in a mini fridge. I will recommend getting a bucket, and a carboy to my dad. Since winemakers do not experience krausen eruptions like beer brewers do, do you need...

Is it necessary to transfer wine to secondary?

I've been home-brewing beer for a few years now and have never brewed a batch of wine. My dad is wanting to make some fruit wine, and has been reading up on the topic. The instructions in most kits call for a primary fermentation, then a transfer to secondary fermentor. Years ago using...

Bottle conditioning highly flocculant yeast (Kveik)

Though I have not used this strain, I find it very hard to believe that your yeast will drop out so much it can't bottle carb over the course of 2 weeks. Even though a lot drops out, you should still have a substantial population in suspension to provide carbonation. At any rate, there is only...
