I have a blueberry apple cider going right now, i took 1.5 lbs of frozen blueberry's thawed them out. then froze them again and thawed them out again, kinda smooshed them a little to get the juices flowing. I then put them straight into my primary. after 3-4 weeks i will rack ontop of another...
Mostly picked from the tree. i did snag a few ground falls. some of the apples have some blemishes. problem is i had to keep them in the basement for a week while i waited for my press to ship. The basement is pretty cool which is why i put them down there. and also made sure there was no...
I know this is a super old thread but im hoping someone will see this... I sit recommended that after pressing cider you pasteurize or throw a camden tab in there before fermenting ? Iv got a bunch of apples im about to press, this is my first time making cider this way. Thanks for tips yall.
As CKuhns mentioned the marble idea is a good one if you dont want to add anything. Iv added apple juice and apple concentrate to mine to deal with the space issue. That is a decent amount of space, if you are going to age it for a while you may wanna address that.
I personally dont mind if...
I just store mine in the dark and room temp. Depending on my recipe i usually rack about four times. How much head space is a lot ? can you post a picture ? my last batch had a decent amount of head space, but i did add some apple juice to it so it wasn't too much. I never had an issue. I...
I haven't kegged YET as i dont have a keggerator. Sorry about my spelling.. but i think if you throw some potassium sorbate in there which would prevent the yeast from converting anymore sugars into carbon dioxide and alcohol.
If you are bottling and want a carbonated cider you can prime it...
This sounds delicious. I think i will try something similar for my next cider batch. I like a carbonated cider so i will probably bottle card it up. Iv got a cider going right now with S04 so i will see how that tastes. I do enjoy a dry cider so ec1118 has done the trick for me. I also...
I know this is super super old but if anyone reads this... I just bottled a gallon of Grapefruit apple cider. I used 3/4 of a gallon of Grapefruit juice and topped it off with honey crisp apple juice, 1 cup of white sugar and i used lalvin ec1118 yeast. I think it came out pretty damn good...
I like the Mangrove Cider yeast. Came out Dry but still had some decent flavor. Also depends on the cider you are using but it is definitely worth using. I have another 3 gallon batch going right now with some delicious fresh pressed cider and the mangrove. Ill let you know how it turns out!
I used 1 gallon of Northcoast organic apple juice and 2 gallons of motts. I should have just grabbed some local Cider but went the juice route. Was it still drinkable with the amount of malt it had ?

Im doing 3 gallons.
-2 lbs of crystal malt
-8 lbs of honey
-Lalvin K1v1116

Looking forward to this one. I was thinking of making some apple jack with it too.
Right on, i definitely want more apple flavor but with some pineapple in there as well. I wanna experiment with this. I like a carbonated cider, so will definitely bottle carbonate this. Ill let you guys know how it works out. Will probably give it a go in in september when the temps fall...
