    Scaling aroma hops

I'd say it might vary based on what you mean by "aroma hops". If you mean hops added within the last 10 minutes of the boil, yes I might consider increasing the amount of hops based on a lower AA percentage. But if it's a cooled whirlpool or dry hop, I probably wouldn't care about the difference...

    Another hopwater question

I'm drinking my second batch of Vista hop water now. The first batch I steeped the hops overnight cold (in the kegerator). This second batch I steeped them for ~45 minutes at 170F. The difference in bitterness is quite noticeable. I think I could go either way depending on my mood.

How much citric acid to reach 3.5 pH?

Just an update: When I said I used 2.6g/gal above, that was before I steeped the hops. After steeping the hops, the pH rose significantly and I had to add more citric acid to get the pH back down below 3.5. I've done this twice now and settled on 3.4g/gal to reach a pH of <3.5.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Hand tight for the portion that attached directly to the wall of the foundry? (Circled in red in the photo below.) Unfortunately that hasn't been my experience.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Has anyone replaced the weldless drain valve on the Foundry with a welded triclamp or camlock fitting? I'm curious if the double-wall would create issues in trying to have it welded. It would be really nice not to have to get out the wrenches to unscrew and disassemble the drain valve for cleaning.

Alternatives to Worm Gear Hose Clamps?

This is all really helpful. I think I've been convinced that camlock fittings (with oetiker clamps) are in my future. I'll stick to the cheap non-perforated worm gear clamps for now, until I can save up to buy the camlock fittings... I might need to buy some this year and hold off till next year...

Alternatives to Worm Gear Hose Clamps?

Someone gave me one of those Herbie Clips for free, but I've never used it. Depending on my batch size, the top of my immersion chiller (where the clip attaches to the hose) may get immersed in wort, so I ideally I'd like something stainless that could withstand the heat. Nice. I was at Bobby's...

Alternatives to Worm Gear Hose Clamps?

I have the typical perforated worm gear hose clamps, similar to these, that I use for my pump hoses and chiller hoses. I don't like them. They rust, they warp out of shape, the gear doesn't grab well, and they chew marks into the silicone hoses when clamped tight. I am considering upgrading my...

Advice on how to enjoy homebrewing over the years without becoming an alcoholic.

I try to stick to the CDC guidelines of 1-2 drinks per day. I occasionally make exceptions for special occasions (e.g. birthday, family in town, etc.). If you have a spouse or housemate, or even a good friend that you keep in touch with regularly, ask them to keep you accountable. Express your...

    Another hopwater question

One step I would add to your simple method above is to acidify it somehow, to ensure it stays food safe. Most sources I read recommended it. It could be adding lemon/lime juice or just straight citric/lactic acid. Some people who tried it with and without yeast said there was a big difference...
