Hmmm...how do I know what temp my hydrometer is calibrated for? He "whirl pooling" I'm referring to is in my mash tun. As I recirculate, the wort is delivered back into the MLT via a hose that swirls it around over the top of the grain bed. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

The grain and volumes were as the recipe stated. My temps were very tight. And the stir was good. Could have possibly been hot wort. Did not know it needed to be cooled nor do I know how to calibrate the hydrometer. The only other idea I had was possibly some channeling due to a fast whirlpool...

I used a fabricated SS water tight unit sold by Brew and Grow in Chicago. It wasn't cheap (about $70) but it's very nice and has a tri-clover fitting for attaching to the RIMS tube. I have seen them a few other places as well. Worth the $ in my opinion. It's pretty much plug an play. Also check...

What water profile did you use?

Angry Monk, jus wanted to say thanks for the great example and direction. I finally got my controller put together and I ran it through some cycles and got it dialed in pretty good. It's not nearly as neat as yours but it'll suit my needs...for now. Here are some pics, cheers!:
