I brewed a IIPA. I love bitter beers, and this one is very very bitter. Maybe too bitter. I was thinking that if I primed it with maple syrup or honey, some of the sweetness left over would help balance out the bitterness...?
What do you think?
What are you experiences?
I saw this thread and had to share. Attached is my citra/nelson pale ale. Safale US-05. I hit my mash temps dead on, as well as my OG. It was a very good beer. Good crisp bitterness that was well balanced by the wheat. The hop flavor was one that I had never tasted before; very subtle...
+1 on the craigslist advice... I get almost all my brewing equipment off of craigslist. If u are patient enough, you could probably find a fridge for free. I saw plenty free fridges the few weeks I was looking for a fridge for my kegarator project.
The kegs are spoken for.
I have two other in line if the first guy falls through.
I will post back if the everyone falls through and they are available again.
Here is my craigslist ad:

Mention HBT and I will give you a little discount, and maybe we can trade a sixer of homebrew!
Yeah i can imagine... I only ask because someday i want to build the ultimate set up my self and i like what you got going on. I will be following until the end!
So i think its fair to say that the debate is over. Nitro provides the pressure to push the beer through the restricter plate in a reasonable time with out over carbonating the beer. The actual bubbles are 100% CO2.
My only question: how does Guinness manage to achieve this cascading effect...
Maybe I am missing something, but when I pulled up New 5 Gal ball lock kegs they come up at $107.95
Help...? I want to buy 3 as well.
Is there a sale price for New 5 Gal ball lock kegs with rubber tops? Or is $121.45 the going rate?
Hmmmm...... Its starting to sound like maple syrup may not be the best type of sugar to add to beer for flavoring or to boost ABV. I love the taste of maple syrup, but not the taste of tree bark.
Does anyone else have any personal experiences in working with maple syrup?
If honey is so...
Interesting... Only six days in primary with the syrup? I would have guessed longer then that. Also, is there a difference between maple syrup, and maple syrup extract?
