One thing to note about that tank is that the stand does not come with it. I just got off the phone with them to check on the plastic type and he told me that it is separate. They do have another model that includes plastic legs but it only seems to go down to 35 gallon as the mininum size...
Everything seems to be fermenting great. The batch with the cote de blanc yeast has a seriously bad case of the rhino farts but that is starting to calm down now.
Went to the local scratch and dent food store to see if I could score a few boxes of apples to try to juice with my Lalanne juicer. Couldn't find a deal on any but as I was walking out I found a few pallets of this cider that I usually buy for making cider. This stuff is usally 8-9 bucks a...
Should be fine. Might be a little overcarbed if it was on gas but shouldn't be an issue really. Will probably take quite a bit of time to get everything cool again starting off with that much thermal mass at the elevated temperature.
I take kegs on and offline all the time without much...
Schedule is definately the key. I know when I work a ton of extra hours it takes me a little while to recalibrate. I've heard a lot of people didn't like the minimed cgm but its the only one I've used and it works for me. Though it can get pretty damned insistent if you are a little late for...
Type 1 here since age 15 so 16 years in and 11 years brewing. I've never had too much of a problem with it if you just treat beer as the food that it is. I test alot though and finally got the CGM addon for my pump several months ago. In my case most average beers 1.045 and under 1.014 fg...
Just came across this news story about some villages banning and arresting people making alcohol.

I understand in certain areas alcoholism can get out of control but this is off the charts.
Didn't know if we had any...
I've had great luck with sliding a piece of heat shrink tubing up over the joint between the probe and the metal cable. Liquid getting in here is usually what kills them. Just find a piece that is pretty close to the size and slide it up to about the curve and several inches up the cable and...
Well I had planned originally to brew a 12gal batch of tripel on sunday. But a new restaurant here in town is starting to brew and I went by today and they gave me a 2.5 gal jug of fresh 1056 so I think i'll use this instead. I'm at a loss as to what to brew now though.
Here is what I have...
Looks great John. Ready to see it at Big Brew. Should have our shipment in by Thursday hopefully. Ready for something else on tap.
Hopefully starting on my stand this week, just depends on Brian's schedule. His pops has a nice metal working shop. Saves me from having to run 220 to my shop...
Nope. I took the afternoon off. Our homebrew club is help with a fundraiser for the local educational center www.dhdc.org A night of the science of beer and fermentation. Should be a fun gig. Lots to do still but should be great exposure for the club. Glad to be able to help them out with...
i'm liking my new copper manifold. i'm getting excited to try it out next chance I get. 1/2" hard copper in a 10gal cooler. Same as many you all have seen.
Added 3piece valve and camlocks.
Tucks away all clean with the chiller. Better than chasing that immersion coil hopefully.
