When I was being taught how to brew beer, the guy teaching me said to try anything we were putting into the beer to get a feel for how the ingredients worked. He neglected to tell me not to try the hops, so I grabbed a few pellets and chucked them in my mouth...after that even the hoppiest IPAs...

I've used S-04 and US-05 and prefer the S-04 better, but only slightly.

I'd skip the bourbon because I don't really like bourbon mixed with anything but ice, but Coke/food is pretty much > any beer/food pairing

I'd go with s-04, its like the big toe of brewing.

Well this recipe came along at the right time. I am planning on brewing a mild this weekend and I was looking at a recipe for a dark mild that didn't include crystal, but after reading the reviews of this one, I'm going for it instead of the other one.

I agree with the bottling +1 but my contrarian opinion is that alcohol and food generally taste horrible together.

I can get behind SA too. I really like their Old Fezziwig. It's too bad you have to buy a whole Xmas time variety 12 pack just to get two of them. Other than that I like the standard Boston lager and Boston ale.

I've only made this with all mosaic. I've only made about 5 batches of beer in my life and this has been three of them. On New Year's Eve I finally got my hands on some citra, I can't wait to taste how that batch turns out.
